HaLev Shelanu - Our Hearts 
(named after the hostage tag “Our Hearts Are Captive In Gaza”)
 
843 hand-carved tallies for 843 days. After hearing Eliya Cohen speak about his time in captivity, I knew I wanted to create this piece. While we counted the days with tape on our shirts, some of them counted the days with tallies.
 
I actually remade this painting 3 times because the 843 tallies wouldn’t fit - I kept needing a larger canvas. The number was never meant to fit. And now they’re home 💛
